2016.03.23 - Final evaluation by the International Panel: Creative Writing contest

Dear all,
thank you for participating in DARTS Creative Writing contest and to the winners... first of all, congratulations!

The award ceremony will be in Alden Biesen, Belgium, in April 23.
The ceremony will be organized within the International Storytelling Festival, a beatiful opportunity to stay in touch with important storytellers coming from all around the world.

The winning stories will be printed on paper and distributed at the related historic building.

Participate & Win!

Are you a digital artist or a creative writer? Use your creative and build a work around the story of some historical complexes in Europe. Read the terms and conditions in order to know the rules of the contests and start to create your work! You can fly with your imagination to Italy in the Amalfi Coast, Belgium in a residence of the Teutonic Order or in Transylvania in the Corvin castle.


How to take part

Participation in this competition is free of charge and open to people over 18 years, of every nationality and sex. Each artwork can be submitted either by an individual or by a team. Multiple entries per individual or team are permitted, but each submission must be registered separately.

All the participant artists will have a personal social workspace with a blog in the DARTS website. In this way they can post information about themselves, their work, their creative process and they can upload images and video and interact with their own social profile.

Prizes

There will be three (3) winners, one for each historic building.

Each winning artwork will receive a money prize of € 500 (five hundreds) and the opportunity to stay as an artist in residence and have an atelier gratis for 2 weeks in an international environment. During this stay, the winners could organize short events in order to interact with the local community (e.g. organize and advertise a small exhibition inside/outside their atelier).

For the atelier, the artists can choose between two European Centres:

  • the Trossi-Uberti Foundation in Livorno (Italy), a private-public foundation that hosts contemporary art exhibitions and ateliers, organizes training courses of contemporary and visual arts (fondazionetrossiuberti.org)
  • one of the royal residences included in the Association of European Royal Residences, a European Network created since 1995 to share knowledge and experience in the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural heritage in their care (europeanroyalresidences.eu).

The money prizes will be given during the awarding ceremony that will be held during the Festival in Ravello, Italy, in June 2016.
At the end of the contest, the jury panel of experts will decide if and how the winning artworks can be installed at/near the historical buildings.

The awarded artists have the right to renounce the prizes, but without any compensation. In that case the prize will be re-assigned according to the ranking already made.
Prize in kinds are not interchangeable with the equivalent amount of money.

Prizes

There will be three (3) winners, one for each historic building.

Each winning story will receive a money prize of € 500 (five hundreds) and will be published in a carefully designed printed project publication (book) containing the three stories + biography of the authors, a picture report of the winning digital art works and a short introduction to the historic places. The publication will also be an e-book available in the most common digital stores like Amazon and others.

The winning author will also be invited as a guest at the International Storytelling Festival of Alden Biesen (BE). This is a 3 days stay at the festival ‘back stage’ together with the professional storytellers. Participants will have free accommodation and travel.

The money prizes will be given during the awarding ceremony that will be held during the Storytelling Festival in Alden Biesen, Belgium, in April 2016.

Internet users' prizes

This special prize will be offered by the Council of Europe in order to involve active citizens in the contests. The winner of this prize will be selected by the Internet users by voting the best works online in the DARTS website.
